MABS conducted the 6throll-out training on Micro-Agri Loan Product Development to interested Northern Mindanao participating banks on January 20-23 in Pagadian City. Twenty loan department officers and field staff from the Rural Bank of Dipolog, Rural Bank of Katipunan, Rural Bank of Oroquieta, Cooperative Bank of Misamis Oriental (CBMO), and 1st Valley Bank attended the training.

The 4-day seminar-workshop consisted of lectures, workshops, action planning and an actual market survey to train the participants on effectively developing, pilot testing and launching Micro-Agri Loan Products.

The participants conducted the market survey in Barangay White Beach, Pagadian City, an island about eight minutes away from the city’s fish port by motorized banca. The main sources of income in the barangay are fishing and seaweed farming.  The purpose of the market survey field training was to give the participants actual experience in how to conduct a market survey for their micro-agri product.  Each participant was given the chance to interview two respondents.  After the interviews, the participants collated, tabulated and analyzed the results of their surveys while being coached by the facilitators.  From there, the participants were grouped by bank and provided an exercise on designing a micro-agri product based on the results of their analysis.
