MABS orients the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan on the MABS Approach to Microfinance

SMOThe USAID-supported RBAP-MABS Program, together with Punla sa Tao Foundation (Punla), one of the three MABS Service Providers, conducted a senior management orientation (SMO) for the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan on June 21 to introduce the bank to the MABS Program and the MABS Approach to Microfinance.

Twelve officers from the bank’s board of directors, senior management and microfinance unit attended the activity as part of the bank’s initiative to expand its market and improve its existing microfinance operations.

The senior management orientation is the first among several modules of the MABS Approach, and is intended to introduce key bank officers to MABS initiatives and best practices in market research, product development, loan administration, savings mobilization and delinquency prevention and management.

Mr. Alan B. Orogo, Deputy Executive Director of Punla, also presented an overview of their training program and other initiatives. The bank is preparing to engage Punla for an Operations Review of its existing microfinance program, as well as for the MABS Approach Technical Training Services (MATTS).
