RB Gattaran fortifies microfinance foundation

RB Gattaran AO refresher 1Recently awarded the 2011 EAGLE (Efficiency, Asset Quality, Growth, Liability Structure and Earnings) Achievement Award for its exemplary microfinance performance in 2010, the Rural Bank of Gattaran continues to push for microfinance excellence.

To further strengthen its microfinance operations and improve its account office’s efficiency, the bank’s staff underwent an Account Officer (AO) Refresher Course on June 22-24 in the bank’s head office in Gattaran, Cagayan. The 3-day training workshop was conducted by Punla sa Tao Foundation in collaboration with the USAID-supported RBAP-MABS Program.

Twenty participants from the bank’s three branches – Allacapan, Gonzaga and Gattaran Main Branch  – attended the training-workshop. It was focused on topics such as Understanding the Role of the Rural Banks as Financial Intermediaries, Microfinance Best Practices, Client Selection, CIBI Report, and proper conduct of the Cash Flow Preparation and Analysis.

The activity concluded with the preparation and presentation of action plans for each branch, which was attended by the bank’s general manager, Mr. Alex Liban. In his closing statement, he stressed the importance of going back to the basics and continuously observing best practices in attaining success in microfinance.
